Mini abdominoplasty presents an attractive option, offering a smaller scar and a reduced recovery period. However, is it the appropriate choice for you?
Full tummy tucks removal a considerable amount of skin, fat, and tissue from the lower abdomen. This requires a hip-to-hip incision, placed very low on the abdomen. which most patients will be able to completely conceal with underwear or a bikini bottom. Separated abdominal muscles are repaired and the upper abdominal skin is pulled down. Patients will then have a new belly button created and will also experience tightening of the pubic area.
Mini tummy tucks use an incision placed in the same location, but generally between six and 12 inches shorter in length. This surgery will flatten the area below the belly button and tighten skin. However, mini tummy tucks cannot address the upper abdominal area or separated rectus muscles (diastasis recti).
